I reconstruct my previous portrait sessions into a new portrait, allowing the negative space to be used to create a new environment. The experience I take from our photoshoot is a new alternate reality, where I reflect on the persona. The new environment creates a new dimension that elevates the persona the subject is portraying in their portrait. The bold design may complement the pose, a prop, or the subject’s overall similarity in portrait. The new images in Portrait: Alternate Reality is a personification of my experience while shooting my subject. I want the viewer to feel they are viewing something otherworldly that visually heightens their senses.
